Funeral services for Bert Vaughn, 79, of Colona, IL, will be 10:00 AM Thursday, at Silvis Heights Baptist Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday at Silvis Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Vaughn died Sunday, July 2, 2006 at home. Memorials may be made to Silvis Heights Baptist Church, where he had been a member. Bert was born July 2, 1927 in Winfield, AL, the son of Vester and Hassie (Thacker) Vaughn. He married Mildred Hulsey July 4, 1947 in Marion County, AL. He served in the United States Air Force from September 1945 thru July 1947. He retired August 1, 1982 as a supervisor at John Deere Plow Planter, Moline, after 26 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Survivors include; his wife of almost 59 years, Mildred Vaughn of Colona; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Judy Vaughn of East Moline, IL, Timothy and Jennifer Vaughn of Colona, IL, Mark and Sue Vaughn of Sherrard, IL; grandchildren, Corey Shepherd, Renee Vaughn, Abbey Thompson, Jason Vaughn, Jeremy Vaughn, Heather Stille, Ivy Tucker, Garrett Vaughn; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Dora Faye Fowler of Winfield, AL; brother and sister-in-law, J.W. "Bill" and Nioka Vaughn of Seaford, VA; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Vaughn of Winfield, AL. He is preceded in death by his: parents; grandson, Bobby Vaughn; sisters, Flora Mae Elliott, Laura McCoy, and Dorothy Vaughn; brothers, Milard Vaughn and Curt Vaughn; daughter-in-law, Marilyn "Bud" Vaughn.
