Funeral services for Berta Gonzalez, 76, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00AM Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4:00PM. Mrs. Gonzalez passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Riverwood Rehab, East Moline. Berta Pena was born December 28, 1938, in Crystal City, TX, the daughter of Margarito and Concepcion Garza Pena. She married Reynaldo Gonzalez Sr. March 29, 1960, in Crystal City. She had worked as a teacher at the Adult Learning Center, RI. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived for her grandchildren. She loved mexican music. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Reynaldo; daughters, Yolanda (Alfredo) Mancilla, East Moline, and Ernestina Gonzalez, Silvis; sons, Reynaldo Gonzalez Jr., Silvis, and Fernando (Jackie) Gonzalez, East Moline; grandchildren, Jorge (Chanelle) Ochoa Jr., Esteven Ochoa, Jessica Gonzalez, and Eva (Mike) Maldonado; great grandchildren, Monica, Kardiwin, Juan, Acelynn, Antonio, and Tayah; sisters, Herminia, Gloria, and Francisca; brothers, Adrian, Fred, Peter, and Ruben. She is preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family.
