Bessie M. Lemen , 94, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of East Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday July 8, 2025, at Mary Queen and Mother Center, St. Louis.

Private family services will be at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline, IL, with interment following at Riverside Cemetery, East Moline. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline.

Bessie was born February 13, 1931 in Moline, Illinois, a daughter of Peter and Mary Francis (Fotinakes) Zarlatanes. She married Robert E. "Bob" Lemen on April 22, 1955, at St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline.

She was a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Bessie was a devoted collector of Coach purses and a connoisseur of facial tissue.

Bessie will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Dan Moore, St. Louis, MO, and Evelyn and Craig McLaughlin, Lakewood, CO; grandchildren, Abigail (Ian) Van Anden, Carolyn (Orterio) Villa, Sawyor (Charlie) de Castro, and Christopher McLaughlin; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Van Anden, Oliver Van Anden, and Orterio Thomas Villa.

Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Bob; parents, Peter and Mary; siblings Evelyn, James, Nick, and Matt.
