Obituary

Beth Bandekow, 50, Davenport and formerly of Silvis, died after a courageous battle of Pancreatic Cancer on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at her home. A memorial fund has been established. Visitation is 4-7PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be read at 6:30PM with a Chaplet of Divine Mercy to follow. Funeral services are 1PM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Beth was born June 30, 1956 in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Robert and Rose (Rumbolt) VanderBeke. She graduated in 1974 from Alleman High School, Rock Island. She married David VanErstvelde in 1975. She married Randy Bandekow on May 2, 2000. She was a graduate of Trinity's first School of Nursing in 1990 and worked for several area hospitals and nursing homes. Beth had been a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis and volunteered as youth director and on Sugar Creek Retreats. She enjoyed being around teens and having her children's friends hang out at their home. She loved flowers and cooking meals for her family. Beth also worked at Younker's house ware department at North Park for 11 years. Survivors and spouses include her husband Randy, children Amy and Greg James, Silvis, Mindy VanErstvelde and fiancée Jeremy Weggen, Davenport, Daniel Edwards, Davenport, parents Robert and Rose VanderBeke, East Moline stepchildren Pam Bandekow and Andrew and Tara Bandekow, Grandchildren; Ashley and Zach James, McKenzie, Jonathon, Spencer and Abigail Weggen and step grandchildren Cameron and Gabriel Bandekow. Her grandparents William and Martha Rumbolt, and Rene and Stella VanderBeke and her infant sister Mary Beth preceded her in death.
