Obituary

Funeral services for Bette Dierks, 87, Silvis, are 1PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Annawan Cemetery, Annawan. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 1st Presbyterian Church, East Moline, where she was a member or to Quad City Animal Welfare, Milan. Bette died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Bette was born January 13, 1923 in Vienna Township, MN, the daughter of George and Nannie (Standish) Keay. She graduated from East Moline High School. She married Ted Crowder in the 1940's. She later married John Dierks who preceded her in death. Bette retired from the Clock Tower at the Corps of Engineers after 30 years of service. She enjoyed playing golf, cards and bingo. Bette found great pleasure from the visits with her niece's dog, Beau. Survivors include her sisters; Margaret Sandberg, Moline, and Bonnie (Earl) Hansen, Springfield, MO. She is the beloved aunt of her six nieces and nephew (spouses); Bonnie Keay, San Jose, CA, Judy (Bill) Rhyne, Moline, Jeri Laud, Moline, Jan (Jon) Carlson, Mooresville, NC, Pam (Don) Cunningham, Springfield, MO, and Patty (John) Grooms, Ottumwa, IA, John (Connie) Keay, San Jose and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband John, she is preceded in death by a brother, George. The family wishes to thank the following for their loving care for Bette; Crosstown, Illini Clinic Pharmacy, Amber Ridge Memory Care and Clarissa Cook Hospice House.
