Funeral services for Bette L. Schrimsher, 80, of East Moline, will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be at Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She died Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Riverwood Rehab, East Moline. Bette Sperry was born May 14, 1934, in East Moline, the daughter of Roy and Lucille Nall Sperry. She married Fred Ross Jr. She later married Wiley Schrimsher. She had worked in housekeeping at Royal Neighbors of America, Rock Island, Quad City Airport Security, and had been a hostess at the Villa, Rock Island. Bette was a wonderful woman who never met a stranger. She could readily see the essence of people's character. She was a loyal "open door" friend who was kind, nurturing and feisty. She cherished life rather than things and was a fierce protector of those she loved. She was a loving, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time with friends and relatives and doing cross stitch. Survivors include her daughter, Sandy (Mark) Rice, Hampton; son, Todd (Ann) Ross, Lake Zurich, Ill.; grandchildren, Marissa (Jake) Jezusko, Apple Valley, Minn., Amy Ross, Santa Cruz, Calif., and J.P. Ross, Billings, Mont.; great-grandchildren, Ben, Emma and Zach Jezusko; sister, Patricia Sperry, Dana Point, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Jo Sage; and brother, Richard Sperry. Memorials may be made to Intouch Adult Day Services.
