Bettie J. Schweitzer, 81, of East Moline, IL, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island, IL. As per family wishes a memorial service will be held in Texas at a later date. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Bettie was born July 13, 1929 in East Moline, the daughter of James and Mabel Englehaupt Greenwalt. She married Jack Schweitzer July 3, 1955, in East Moline. He died in December of 1993. She had worked at the former International Harvester, East Moline and retired as the Administrative Assistant to the acting head of the Texas Education Agency. Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Kankel of Austin, TX, Laura (Donald) Murchison of Austin; sons, Jack Schweitzer (Beverly Kausal) of Rock Island, Joel Schweitzer of Rock Island, and Robert (Peggy) Schweitzer of Austin; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson.
