Funeral services for Betty Bacorn, 86, of Colona, IL, will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Free Will Baptist Church, Colona, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Mrs. Bacorn died Monday, August 16, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Free Will Baptist Church, Colona, where she had been a member. Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, is handling arrangements. Betty Speck was born February 19, 1924 in Oquauka, IL, the daughter of Walter and Susie Speck. She married Verdi Sheese July 30, 1940. She later married Samuel Bacorn May 5, 1966 in Rock Island, IL. He died in 1991. She had worked at the former Oak Glen Home and Fair Haven Nursing Home for nearly 20 years as a LPN. She and her husband, Samuel had started R&S Transportation, East Moline. She enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, and the Chicago Cubs. She loved her family and her dog, Tinker. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Robert Lonstad of Colona; stepson and daughter-in-law, Regie and JoEllen Bacorn of East Moline; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Robin Sheese of FL, Debbie Sheese of IN; sisters-in-law, Lynn VanLandegen of Moline, IL, Jean Washburn of Fresno, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Samuel, daughter, Dixie Stephens, sons, Dale Sheese and Donald Sheese, several sisters and brothers.
