Funeral services for Betty J. Darnell, 74, of East Moline, IL, will be 1:00:PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs Darnell died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Bucktown Center for the Arts Betty Alsip was born November 1, 1938 in Vienna, IL, the daughter of William and Mabel Craig Alsip. She married Marion "Pete" Darnell February 23, 1957 in Anna, IL. He died October 21, 2006. She loved going to garage sales. She enjoyed pottery, art, antiques, and flower gardening. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include daughter Alison Darnell of Moline, IL; son-in-law, Marilyn Munn Jr. of Alpha, IL,; grandchildren, Amanda Glaser, Jessie Marie Munn, Angella Whalen, Heidi Haessler, Matthew Munn, and Christian Munn; great grandchildren, Bayleigh and Khelben; 11 step great grandchildren;sister, Brenda (Monroe) Douglas, Cypress, IL; brother, William (Mary) Alsip, Benton, KY; sister-in-law, Deloris (Kenneth) Collier, Paducah, KY; several nieces and nephews.
