Funeral services for Betty L. DeSmet, 96, of Silvis, IL, will be noon, Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Mrs. DeSmet passed away Monday, February 27, 2023, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

Betty was born December 8, 1926, in rural Bethany, MO, the daughter of Claud and Etta Mae Allen Stottlemyre. She married Richard L. "Dick" DeSmet January 22, 1960, in Rock Island, IL. He passed away November 14, 2012. In her earlier years, Betty had worked at Servus Rubber, Rock Island. She was an excellent artist and especially enjoyed painting. She loved bowling and playing pool.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Gary Larson (Pam O'Callaghan), East Moline; grandchildren, Kelli (Richard) Jenkins, Erie, IL, and Renae (Jay) Scherschel, Hampton, IL; great grandchildren, Marc (Bobbie) Jenkins, Ryan Monkus (Alisha Hagen), Amanda Monkus (Zach McLean), Emily Jenkins, Sara Scherschel, and Nathan Scherschel; 8 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Anita Haskins, Bonnie Krebs, Bernice Stottlemyre; and brothers, Paul and Porter Stottlemyre.
