IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty
Hays
October 28, 1929 – June 25, 2013
Betty J. Hays of Port Orange, Florida, passed away at her home during her sleep on Tuesday June 25, 2013. She was born October 28, 1929 in Chester, Illinois to Frances and Martha Elhoffer. She married Howard Fischer in 1949 and later married Fred Hays in 1964. She was preceded in death by her son Calvin Hays. Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, James (Harriett) Elhoffer, Moline IL; sons, Steven Fischer of Port Orange, FL, Roger (Janis) Fischer, of Moline, IL; and daughter, Sandra (Mark) Tooley, of Moline, IL. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two other great grandchildren due in August and December. Betty also will be remembered by family friends, Eric Goire and Aned Navarro, both of Port Orange, FL, and her special friend Ron, with whom she spent a lot of time riding a motorcycle and going to eat near the water whenever possible. Before retiring and moving to Florida, Ms. Hays worked at Quad City Dye Casting and DEWCO, a Don E. Williams Company. She enjoyed being around the water very much and when she lived in Illinois, she could always be found on a boat on the Mississippi, headed to a vacation spot in Wisconsin and when in Florida, she was near the ocean. A memorial service will be held 2PM Monday, at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church Church 1201 13th Street, Moline. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Lions Club. Ms. Hays will be cremated and later laid to rest in her hometown of Rock Falls, Illinois at the cemetery where her parents and son are buried.
