Betty J. Sletten, 91, formerly of East Moline, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Alden Park Stratmoor Nursing Home, Rockford, IL. Funeral services are 10AM Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline. Betty was born on July 19, 1924 in Ontario, WI, the daughter of Eugene and Melissa (Burdick) Sullivan. She married Orion on July 2, 1941 in Waukon, IA. Betty last worked as a checker for HyVee, Moline. She was an active member of St. John's serving on the Evangelism Committee, the Altar Guild and was past secretary of the Ladies Aid. Survivors include son, Jerry Sletten of Rockford, IL, son-in-law Mark Haupt of Paso Robles, CA, daughter-in-law Susan Sletten, Peoria, IL; 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 3, 2005, daughter Nancy, her parents, three brothers and a sister. The family would like to thank the staff at Alden Park Stratmoor Nursing Home, the Hospice team and especially Nurse Spring Munoz for their exceptional care.
