Beverly F. Butterworth, 89, East Moline, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at her home. Memorial services are 11 AM Friday at First Presbyterian Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, and from 10 AM until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, East Moline. Beverly was born, February 11, 1929, in Garfield, UT, the daughter of Hans and Anna (Carlson) Foss. She married Donald S. Butterworth on December 26, 1951, in Milton, MA. He died January 13, 1999. Bev graduated from Simmons College in Boston with a degree in Library Science. She held librarian positions with; Milton Public Library, Milton, MA, Northeastern University, Boston, MA, Columbia University, New York City and Washington DC Public Library. Beverly was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon, Trustee, Elder and was a Church Circle Chairperson. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Junior Women's Club, Trinity Health Auxiliary, Moline City Union King's Daughters and Rock Island County Home Extension and served as president of the League of Women Voters. She was also a member of two book clubs including the Literary Club of Moline and enjoyed her puzzle clubs. Beverly continued her love of literacy with the East Moline School District where she volunteered with children. Bev had the deepest love for her family and friends. Survivors include her children, Steven (Daniela) Butterworth, Boise, ID, and Karen (Doug) Van Treeck, Gurnee, IL, son-in-law Carlo Ferreri, East Moline, grandchildren, Chris (Melissa) Gottwalt, Nick Gottwalt (Tara Jimenez), Aimee Butterworth, Elisa (Kevin) Wax, Erik Butterworth, Ian Butterworth and Kasondra Van Treeck and great grandchildren, Amelia, Freddy, Garrett, Evelyn, Hope, and one on the way. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, children, Ronald Butterworth and Nina Ferreri and her brother William O. Foss.
