Beverly MJ Nelson, 85, East Moline, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd,. East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church. Bev was born on June 11, 1932 in Geneseo, the daughter of Clement and Martha (DeKezel) Matthys. Her mother died when she was very young and she was raised by Clara and John Schneider. She was in the first graduating class from Alleman High School. She married Walter C. Nelson Jr., on November 7, 1953 at St. Anne. He died September 25, 2000. She worked as a teller at the former State Bank of East Moline, and in the cafeterias of East Moline Schools. She volunteered for the Illini Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include her children, Jay (Denise) Nelson, Winfield, IA, LeAnn Jacques, Rock Island and Lisa (Dewey) Schuldt, East Moline, grandchildren, Matt (Amber) Nelson, Nikki (Freddy) Mata, Jeremy (Sarah) Jacques, Sean (Danielle) Nelson, Dylan Schuldt (Samantha Longett), Taylor Jacques, Ryan Nelson and Tanner Schuldt (Megan Bush) and great grandchildren, Jacob, Shaye, Micah, Leonardo, Sebastian, Madison, Corinne and Finley.
