Bill J. Doxsee, 87, Silvis, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 1-3 PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3PM. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or to the Wounded Warrior Project. Bill was born February 24, 1930 in Boden, IL. He served in the the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Frances Viscioni on February 28, 1948 in Silvis. He retired from John Deere Harvester in 1985. Mr. Doxsee was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and prayed regularly in the Adoration Chapel. He was a member of UAW local 845, enjoyed gardening, and wintering with his wife in Florida. Above all, family was his greatest joy. He and his wife helped to raise three granddaughters and a great grandson. Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years, Frances, children, Nancy (Mike) Humphrey, East Moline, Kathleen (Ron) Shinn, Orion, Pam Williams, Silvis, and John (Renee) Doxsee, Moline, ten grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way and was expecting his first great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Goldie (Frye) Doxsee, and siblings, Marie Shipma, Gene Harris, Albert Doxsee, Lois Hildebrand, Betty Raes Carss and Grace Doxsee.
