Funeral services for Billie J. Shlaes 82, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Estates, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00PM Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Shlaes died Friday, May 16, 2014 at Genesis Silvis. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Billie Kirkpatrick was born November 2, 1931 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Wilbur and Vera England Kirkpatrick. She married Ken Carlson. She later married Barry Shlaes. She retired from Deere & Company, Moline, in 1991, after 17 years of service. Billie had been a generous woman who loved the outdoors and reading. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Cytacki, East Moline, and Jan (Richard) True, Silvis; sons, Scott Carlson, Moline, and Brian (Venus) Carlson, Stephenville, TX; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; stepdaughters, Debbie (Mike) Anderson, TX, and Traci Margolis, Moline; stepson, Marc (DeeDee) Shlaes, Jacksonville, NC; 4 step grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild.
