Obituary

Billy J. Doose, 87, Milan, formerly of East Moline, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Heartland Health Care, Moline. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd,.. East Moline. Burial is in Hampton Township Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bridging the Gap Veteran's Stand Down, Rock Island. Billy was born February 28, 1929 in Amarillo, TX, the son of Lawrence and Agnes (Crawford) Doose. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Carol Ball on July 16, 1983 in Port Byron. Bill retired in 1987 as a steam hammer operator from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline after 39 years. He also drove tours for the Harvester Works for another 12 years. He and his wife Carol were always ready to volunteer for a worthy cause, and they founded the Hampton Towne Cryer Newspaper. Bill was a life member of the AMVETS and was citizen of the year in 2002. Survivors include his wife, Carol, children, Ronald (JoAnn) Doose, Honolulu, HI, Darrell (Mel) Doose, East Moline, and Sharon McBride, Mountain Home, Ark, Glenn (Cindy) Ball, Colona, Randy (Cheryl) Ball, Ft. Worth, TX, and Amy (John) Bechtel, Prophetstown, twelve grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Donald Doose and Patricia Annett both of Amarillo.
