Blanche A. Cobert, 98, East Moline, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services are 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church. Blanche was born December 31, 1917 in Moline, the daughter of Camiel and Flavie DeSmet. She married Gerard Cobert on May 4, 1940 in Moline. He died on September 15, 2001. She was a wonderful cook and took her role as Matriarch very seriously. She looked forward to each family get-together. She was an avid bridge player and would play euchre with her grandkids until wee hours of the morning. Blanche was very competitive and always strived for 1st place. Survivors include her children, Carole Podlashes, and Richard Cobert, both of East Moline, grandchildren; Christina (Mike) Peterson, Eldorado, KS, Julie (Stephen) Sheets, East Moline, Steve Podlashes, East Moline, Christopher Cobert, Naperville, Jackie (Chris) Arguello, Greenwood, IN and Michelle (Mike) Matysik, Batavia, great-grandchildren; Katelyn, Matthew, Zach, Daniel, Nathan, A.J., Nicolas, Ryan, Gia, Giuliana, MacKenzie, Masie and Marley, and her sister Dorothy Turf, East Moline.
