Bonnie Jo Bernat, 67, of East Moline, IL, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Trinity, Rock Island. Memorial visitation will be Monday from 5:00-8:00PM at Van Hoe Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Bonnie Jo McWhirter was born September 10, 1946, in Moline, the daughter of Donald and Georgia Carlson McWhirter. She was a graduate of Moline High School and had received her accounting degree from Black Hawk College, Moline.She married Ronald "Ron" Bernat April 24, 1965, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. She had worked for First Midwest Bank and retired from the Corp of Engineers, in October of 2013, after 15 years of service. Survivors include her husband Ron, East Moline; daughter, Amy (Chris) Smith, Rosenberg, TX; sons, Jeff Bernat, Minneapolis, MN, and Chris Bernat Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Alex, Josie, and Will Smith; sisters, Jill Knight, Louisville, KY, Susan (Pat) Sellers, Louisville, and Patricia McWhirter, Louisville.
