Bruce I. Burklund, 77, East Moline, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home. Funeral services are 11:30 AM Monday, June 23, 2014 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Entombment will be in Greenview Mausoleum, East Moline, with military honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to Cancer Research or to QC P.A.W.S. Bruce was born March 22, 1937 in Moline, IL, the son of Glenn and Nina (Leach) Burklund. He married Dorina Bucci on May 27, 1961. He had served his apprenticeship for the Rock Island Lines and later retired, with 32 years with ALCOA, Bettendorf. After retirement he worked part time for AVIS car rental. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing tennis, lawn bowling, and racket ball, working in his yard, riding bicycles, ATV's and motorcycles, boating and flying. Bruce enjoyed playing cards and building models. Bruce and his wife loved to travel. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Moline Viking's Club. Survivors include his wife Dorina, children, Wade Burklund, Milwaukee, WI, Brad (Billie) Burklund, Hampton, IL, Gina (Mike) Allison, East Moline, and Richard (Amy) Burklund, Port Byron, IL, ten grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and siblings, Earl Burklund, Moline, Marcia (Joe) Techak, Davenport, Gretta Wyberg, Moline, Joyce Cant, East Moline and Bonnie Post, Cambridge, IL.
