Funeral services for Byron "John" Dunn, 71, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Dunn died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at his daughter's home in Rock Island. John was born August 19, 1943, in Norfolk, VA, the son of Byron and Marinda Gould Dunn. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He had worked for Cox Cable, Grisham Towing, and retired from U.T.H.S, as a custodian. In his earlier years he had been an active member of the VFW Post 2480 Port Clinton, OH. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, going to the Coffee Hound and the Hallmark Store, East Moline, to visit his friends. Survivors include his daughter, Jamie Dunn, Rock Island; son, John Dunn, Las Vegas, NV; sister, Joanne Valdez, NM; sister-in-law, Fran Dunn, FL; many nieces and nephews; best buddy his cat, Pasha Blue.
