Carlos L. Schoonover, 74, Silvis, died Monday, June 2, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4-7PM Thursday, June 5th at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a time of sharing and remembrance at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the athletic department of Hampton Grade School. Carlos was born October 25, 1933 in Stahl, Missouri. He married Johnetta Tittle on May 28, 1955 at Watertown Baptist Church, East Moline. He was the Park Superintendent for the City of East Moline until 1991. Carlos was a family man who loved time with the kids and grandkids. He was a giving man and made friends easily. He was a loving husband and father. He also enjoyed his country music. Carlos served in the US Army. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Johnetta, children and spouses Jamie and Russell Boore, Hampton, and Alan and Theresa Schoonover, Silvis, grandchildren: Jeffrey Schoonover, Jason Lewis, Johnna, Benjamin, Pauly, Isaac and Addie Boore and a great granddaughter Devynn Boore, and a sister and brother-in-law Mary and Wesley Peebler, Moline. His parents, a sister Donna Riley and infant twin daughters precede him in death.
