Carmina “Carmen” Pizano, 59, of Silvis, IL, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, at her home, surrounded by family.

A Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held the following day, Thursday, August 13th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Moline.

Carmen was born January 22, 1967, in Moline, Illinois, to Luis Pizano and Esther Pizano DeLaRosa. She was the middle of six sisters; strong and stern, yet gentle and fair are just a few of the qualities that best described her.

She lived an adventurous life, moving from state to state early and experiencing so many joys before settling down and eventually having two girls, Gabrielle “Gaby” Correa and Maricarmen Lezama.

She never failed to lighten a mood when necessary and was someone who was willing to lend a helping hand. Whether you were a friend or family, Carmen would be sure to make space for those she cared about. Whether it was offering a place to stay or providing a warm meal, she gave her everything. She loved quietly but deeply, and those who were in her circle felt it immensely. Helping so many through difficult times, she truly influenced and shaped the lives of those around her.

Carmen was an incredibly hard worker who spent a majority of her career at Tyson Foods. During her time there, she experienced many challenges that helped her grow into the leader she became, instilling a similar work ethic in both of her girls.

Her favorite pastimes included baseball, gardening, playing with her doggies, as well as spending time with her two daughters. Whether it was cheering on the Los Angeles Dodgers or watering her plants after a long day, she always found time to play fetch with her dogs, Daisy, Millie, and Cisco (AKA ‘Pwincess’). Can’t forget the belly rubs either. What is a dog and their human without a good cuddle? She loved winding down every evening by eating a good dinner, cooked courtesy of her two little chefs, Gaby and Maricarmen (mostly Gaby), and watching a suspense movie or some new cooking show, all while telling the tales of the day. There was nothing she loved more than seeing a smile on her daughters’ faces and seeing them thrive.

Carmen found faith at an early age, leading her to always believe that no matter what curves were thrown your way in life, as long as you had faith, love, and hope, you could get through anything. She enjoyed attending Sunday services at St. Mary’s in Moline. Later in life, this faith grew even stronger, building an unbreakable force from within. Her strength, not just spiritually but mentally and emotionally, is something to be admired.

In addition to her daughters, Gabrielle Correa and Maricarmen Lezama, both of Silvis, she is survived by her siblings, Gloria Soto Pizano, East Moline; Rose Pizano, Texas; Lisa Troche, Moline; Marysol Jimenez Pizano, Moline; and Sofia Chandia Pizano, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

She remembered so many of us during crucial times; now it is time to remember her.
