Carol Jane Lineback, 84, passed peacefully from life in Iowa City on June 2, 2017 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Private funeral service will be held at a later date. She was born September 4, 1932 in a farmhouse in rural Whiteside County, Illinois, to Carl Frederick and Helen Pearson Kuebler. She married Robert Neil Lineback on December 2, 1950 in Savanna, Illinois. She was the mother of four children, Nancy, Jennifer, Robert and Richard. She was a long-time resident of Silvis, IL, and lived in Eldridge, IA, later in her life. Her husband, Bob preceded her in death in August 1991. She attended and graduated from Augustana College in 1972 Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. She was a grandmother already when she graduated, a fact that attracted notice and was featured in the Moline Daily Dispatch. She went on to earn a Master's Degree in English Education from Western Illinois University in 1978. She did additional post-graduate work at the University of Iowa. Carol taught at Bettendorf (IA) Middle School for 22 years before retiring in 1994. After retiring, she taught at AIC Junior College as Adjunct Professor for 3 years and also taught at Scott Community College for 8 years. Carol was a member of NCTE and DARSPA (Davenport Area Retired Teachers). She was an enthusiastic Girl Scout leader for both of her daughters. Many of their friends remember the meetings, the projects, and those campouts. Carol is survived by her sisters, Verna Shaner of Lanark, Illinois and Noreen Price, Clinton, Iowa, and her four children, Nancy, Jennifer, Robert and Richard (Corinne) Lineback. Carol and the Lineback family will always be thankful for her daughter-in-law Corinne (Ybarra) Lineback, her primary caregiver in her later years. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Carol (Sierra) Neal, Lauren (Feldhahn) Collins, Derek and Brett Feldhahn, Eirik and Carl Nielsen, Rob and Kristen Lineback; and 10 great grandchildren, Lucas Blea, Robert Neal Jr., Jacob, Ciera, and Chelsea Neal, Tucker and Riley Nielsen and Evelyn Nielsen, Hannah Rose Kelly and Jackson Collins.
