Funeral services for Carol (Shippey) Serra, 84, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Divine Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL, where a rosary will be recited at 6 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Carol passed away peacefully in her home on May 27th 2025, in Silvis.

Carol Shippey was born January 30, 1941, in Rock Island IL, the daughter of Allen and Helen Blaisdell Shippey. She married Charles "Charlie" Serra May 26th,1968, they had one daughter, Judy Lynn. She worked at the Servus Rubber Company in Rock Island for several years before meeting Charlie. She started working at Frank's Pizza in Silvis in 1968 and continued to work there until she retired in 2012.

She enjoyed working with family at Frank's Pizza and had a million stories to tell about work and family. She also looked forward to her winter trips to South Carolina to visit her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. After Charlie's death she was especially grateful for her brother-in-law Frank Serra Sr. and the entire Serra family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie; her sister, Joyce Brannan; and all 12 of her brother and sister-in-laws.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Lynn (Sean) Nelson, Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Kyle Thorngren, Silvis, Andrew Adkins, Silvis, and Mackenzie Nelson, Myrtle Beach, SC; her sister, Janis Shippey Rock Island; many nieces and nephews; and so many great nieces and nephews she couldn't count them all.
