Funeral services for Caroline I. Shanks, 79, East Moline, are 10 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at the funeral home. Caroline died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Trinity, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Trinity School of Nursing Scholarship Fund, Rock Island. Caroline Hardesty was born in Corning, Arkansas, the daughter of John and Helen (Kirksey) Hardesty. She married Trennis L Shanks on November 16, 1952 in Corning. Caroline was a graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Little Rock, and practiced nursing at the former Moline Public Hospital and later at Illini Hospital, Silvis, primarily in mother and baby care. She enjoyed painting, reading, movies, bingo, entertaining and visiting with friends. Survivors include her husband of 58 years "TL", daughters; Jane Shanks (Pam Bailey), Moline, Carol (Keith) Beyhl, East Moline, grandchildren Logan Beyhl, Austin TX, and Cody Beyhl, East Moline and a sister Mary Jane Hardesty, Moline.
