Catherine Ellen Quinn Tennant, 91, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Lighthouse, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday, September 19, 2011 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial follows at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bishop Ward High School, Speech and Drama Departments, Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation is 2-5PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2PM. Catherine was born July 27, 1920 in Kansas City, the daughter of Joseph D and Catherine Hester (Bean) Quinn. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School, John F. Kennedy College, Wahoo, NE, with post graduate studies at Drake University, Des Moines, IA. Catherine was one of two women in the College Flying Program in Kansas City, and soloed in the Porterfield on July 20, 1940. She married her pilot Raymond J. Tennant on June 26, 1943 in Kansas City. Catherine had a lifetime interest in drama, appearing in high school, college and community theatre. Locally she appeared at the Moline Barn and Circa 21 productions. Catherine was a lector at Christ the King Church and active in the CKARP. Before moving to Silvis, she was the executive secretary for the KCK Women's Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include husband Raymond, children; Catherine Quinn (Mrs. Allen) Dannenfeldt, and Raymond John (Cindy) Tennant Jr., Bay City, TX, grandchildren (spouses); Joe (Megan) Dannenfeldt, Steve (Amy) Dannenfeldt, Matt (Lisa) Dannenfeldt, Mike (Andrea) Dannenfeldt, Ray (Melanie) Tennant III, Patrick Tennant and Daniel (Celina) Tennant and eleven great grandchildren. Catherine is preceded in death by her parents and 2 children; Catherine Hester Tennant and William Joseph Tennant.
