Funeral services for Celeste H. DeDoncker-Stephenson 86, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church East Moline, IL, where she had been a member. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 3-5 PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mrs. Stephenson died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at River Park Health Care Center, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School's Robert DeDoncker Memorial Scholarship Fund. Celeste Hall was born April 3, 1920 in Yankton, SD, the daughter of John and Helene (Fanslow) Hall. She married Kenneth DeDoncker October 3, 1942 in California. He died September 6, 1976. She later married Vincil L. "Terry" Stephenson June 8, 1979 in Moline, IL. He died March 9, 1998. She and Kenneth owned and operated Brand Name Shoes, East Moline. She retired as manager from Frontier Liquors, East Moline. Her greatest achievement was raising five successful children. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She served her community as a Girl Scout leader for many years at St. Anne. She was an avid reader, reading several books a week. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Martha "Corky" and Dave Simcox of East Moline, Linda and Dan Smolenski of Port Byron, IL, Susan and William Matheson of Moline, Clara and John Kangas of Milan, IL; daughter-in-law, Sheryl DeDoncker of East Moline; grandchildren (spouse), David Simcox, Damian (Dana) Simcox, Debra (Ray) Kash, Andrew (Amanda) Smolenski, Bryan (Christina) DeDoncker, Brianne DeDoncker, Jason Kangas, and Janelle (Brian) Christner; 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, Robert "Bob" DeDoncker, son-in-law, Blaine Gibson.
