Obituary

Chalmer "Chuck" Emmendorfer, 87, East Moline, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at his home. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a rosary recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, East Moline. Chuck was born on November 14, 1929 in Perryville, MO, the son of Vincent and Elvira (Hoffman) Emmendorfer. He married JoAnn Dobbelaere on September 5, 1953 in East Moline. JoAnn died March 5, 2014. He worked for 35 years at Aramark in East Moline, retiring in 1989. He served in the US Navy. Chalmer served as an alderman before becoming East Moline's Mayor from 1987 until 1993. He enjoyed playing golf, cribbage, fishing, rolle bolle, and bowling. He dearly loved his grand and great grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Marcia (Brian) Larsen, East Moline, Michele (David) Rogers, East Moline, Mary (Brian) Sebastian, Geneseo, and Mark (Brenda) Emmendorfer, Moline, 13 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren and 1 on the way, and sibling, Weldon Emmendorfer. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, sister Merle and brother Lloyd.
