Charlene T. Malmstrom, 91, of East Moline, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Monday, December 26, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Charlene was born November 13, 1931, in Moline, IL, a daughter of Charles and Marguerite Goethals Lambert. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, Rock Island. Charlene married John R. Malmstrom on October 15, 1955, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2019.
Charlene worked at Farmall in her earlier years. She was a licensed realtor for 25 years and a business manager for her husband's business, John R. Malmstrom & Sons, General Contractor.
She was a charter member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Her faith and family were very important to her. Charlene was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving are her children, Charles (Shannon) Malmstrom, Colona, IL, Jane Malmstrom, Lakewood, CO, Linda (Rick) Mathis, San Tan Valley, AZ, Marianne (Mark) Bishop, Frisco, CO and Theodore (Lisa Willoughby) Malmstrom, St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Ian Malmstrom, Brittany Engleking, Madeline, Caitlin and Mick Noles and Franklin Malmstrom; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
Charlene was preceded in death by her husband; a stillborn child; parents; and sisters, Frances Calsyn and Claire Rose Budelier.
