Charlene Shepard, 81, Silvis, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the D.A.V. She was born March 9, 1930 in Muscatine, IA, the daughter of Charles and Lena (Wiggers) Heiland. She married Dorvin Shepard on November 13, 1954. She graduated from the former Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. In 2010, she retired from her nursing career last working for Dr's. Carl T. Johnson, Ralph, David and Tom Ade and R.M. Castro. Charlene was a die-hard Chicago Cubs Fan and enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Dorvin, son and daughter-in-law Delvin and Diana Shepard, Colona, grandson Daniel Shepard, Naperville, IL and a sister Mabel Seltzer, Paradise, CA. Her parents, and 5 brothers preceded her in death.
