IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Wesley
Armstrong
December 2, 1938 – April 10, 2021
Charles Wesley Armstrong, 82, Moline, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA. Private graveside services with military honors will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of any flowers or gifts, the family asks that memorials be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
Charlie was born on December 2, 1938 in Joy, IL, the son of Herbert and Helen (Schaub) Armstrong. He married Lucy Froehlich on January 19, 1960 in Dickinson, ND after serving in the US Air Force stationed in Minot, ND. Charlie retired after 40 years in 2001 from ALCOA where he was a pipe fitter and mill mechanic. He was an avid reader, enjoyed woodworking and fishing, was a Black Belt in karate, and put his initials on everything he owned. He loved cologne, keeping his lawn groomed and cars polished, and performing magic tricks for his family and friends. He was a member of the Moline Viking Club and Rock Island York Rite Masonic Lodge. His family was his pride and joy, especially being a grandfather and great-grandfather of many beautiful children.
Charlie was a dear husband to Lucy for 61 years, loving father to Scott Armstrong (Rocklin, CA), Jill Armstrong (Frisco, TX) and Jenny Butrym (Hudson, NH) and their spouses. He was the caring grandfather to one grandson and seven granddaughters and was blessed with sixteen great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Charlie was also a caring brother to his siblings, Marilyn Mix (Coal Valley) and Russell Armstrong (Henderson, NV).
