Funeral services for Charles Bruno, 86, of Silvis, IL, will be 9:30AM Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rapids City, IL. Visitation will be 4:30-7:00PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a prayer service will be held at 4:00PM. Private committal services will be held at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Mr. Bruno died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rapids City. Charles was born October 19, 1923 in DuQuion, IL, the son of Agatino and Katie Restivo Bruno. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Margaret Turco in April of 1948 in Chicago, IL. He had worked at the Merchandise National Bank, Chicago, IL as a Commercial Banker, retiring in 1989 after 42 years of service. He enjoyed tending his rose garden, reading, walking, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He especially enjoyed traveling to Mexico, San Francisco, and Venezuela. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret Bruno of Silvis; sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Angie Bruno of Port Byron, IL; Paul and Maria Bruno of Park Ridge, IL; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; sister, Ernestine Daniels of Beecher, IL; Philip and Marian Bruno of Coeur d'Alene, ID; 7 nieces and nephews.
