It is with profound sadness, deep love, and a lifetime of wonderful memories that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” DeVore, 78, of East Moline, IL , who left this world on July 18, 2026 at Hope Creek.

Born on May 1,1948 in Moline, IL, Chuck developed his legendary work ethic early. As a young boy and young man, he grew up running a farm alongside his mother, learning the values of resilience, grit, and the rewards of a hard day's labor.

Those early lessons on the farm shaped his life's work. As a proud union carpenter and the owner of his own home-building business, he spent decades shaping the community around him. He left behind a tangible legacy of hard work, precision, and honest craftsmanship in the homes he built.

He truly enjoyed the outdoors. Hunting deer in his younger years and morel mushrooms throughout, taking care of his yard and walking by the river. But especially took pride in his vast gun collection, deeply appreciating the history, mechanics, and artistry of his collection.

But above all else, Chuck was a family man with a giant heart and a fierce love for his children and grandsons. He had a genuine, gentle soul with a great sense of humor, and always knew how to bring laughter to a room.

His pride and joy were the many dedicated years he spent coaching his children and grandsons in softball, baseball, and basketball. Chuck was a fixture in local youth sports, remembered for his encouragement, competitive spirit, and the life lessons he taught through the game.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna DeVore and his father Vernon DeVore. He is survived by his beloved daughter and best friend, Kimberly DeVore; his son, Douglas DeVore; and his cherished grandsons, Kyle Kirkland and Geoffrey DeVore, whom he loved with all his heart.
