Charles “Chuck” J. Malmstrom, 68, of East Moline, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at University of Iowa Medical Center, Iowa City.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21st, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Interment will be at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona, IL. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 20th, at the funeral home, with visitation following from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family, in care of Shannon Malmstrom, to be designated for animal rescue.

Charles was born October 12, 1957, in Moline, Illinois, to John R. and Charlene T. (Lambert) Malmstrom. He graduated from Alleman High School. He married Shannon M. Murphy on May 23, 1998, in Moline, IL.

Charles was a talented carpenter for many years and member of Carpenter’s Local 166.

Charles was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapshooter, and outdoorsman. He was a member of the Silvis Eagles Club and Colona American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Shannon, of East Moline; son, Ian Malmstrom, Colona; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Justin) Myers, Moline; grandchildren, William and Emily Myers; siblings, Jane Malmstrom, Colorado, Linda Mathis, Arkansas, Marianne (Mark) Bishop, Colorado, and Theodore “Ted” (Lisa Willoughby) Malmstrom, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, and other family; and his beloved cat, “Sam”.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, John and Charlene; and one sister, Cindy, in infancy; and brother-in-law, Rick Mathis.
