Charles R. "Rex" "Chuck" Zaerr, 72, of Carbon Cliff, passed away Thursday March 15, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center in Silvis. Funeral services are 1:00PM Thursday March 22, 2018 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., in East Moline, where a visitation will be held two hours before from 11-1PM. Casual attire is requested. Interment will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Chuck was born April 17, 1945 in Ottumwa, IA a son of Mark and Betty (Sprouse) Zaerr. He married Margaret Flynn, November 30, 1974 in Bowling Green, MO. She passed away on May 7, 2010. He worked for John Deere Harvester Works, where he was well-known and well-liked, for many years until retiring in 2008. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, playing games on the computer, going out to eat, and especially loved his dog, "Duke". He was a former member of UAW #861. He is survived by his children: Amanda Schied of Ocala, FL Kimberly Zaerr of Centennial, CO , Rocky (Jenny) Howes of Hannibal, MO, Roxanne (Jerry) Freeman of MO, Sheila (Doug) Doyle and Sherry (Matt Akers) Cosselman both of Princeton, IA; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Donna Missildne of Virden, IL, Rick (Teresa) Zaerr of Quincy, IL, Becky (Edward) Schroeder of Mendon, IL, Nancy Zaerr of Virden, and Randy (Sherry) Zaerr of Payson, IL; his half-sister: Patricia Richmond of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a son and daughter-in-law: Rusty and Glenda Howes.
