Charles “Pete” P. Fiers Sr., 90, of Colona, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, IL. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Charles Fiers Sr. Memorials may be made to the family to be divided and distributed to multiple organizations.

Born on May 20, 1936, in Geneseo, Pete was the son of Peter and Gabriela (Lootiens) Fiers. Pete started his career in the sheet metal trade and later to plumbing that he learned from his brother-in-law, Paul. He dedicated much of his life to the plumbing trade, working as a self-employed plumber, and was known for his remarkable woodworking skills. Pete had a zest for life that was evident through his passions for polka dancing and a profound appreciation for music. In his personal life, Pete found joy in his family. He married Marie, with whom he had seven children. After their eventual separation, he married Elizabeth, who preceded him in death. He later found companionship with Maria Golterman, with whom he shared his later years.

Pete is survived by his wife, Maria Golterman; children, Charles Fiers Jr., Andover, IL, Tami (Jim) Stalf, Andover, IL, Kevin Fiers, Coal Valley, IL, Kyle Fiers, Coal Valley, IL, Kim (Jef) Heller, Westmont, IL, Karla (John) Mercer, Bettendorf, IA, and Kory (Jen) Fiers, Orion, IL; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Cindy Fiers; and sister and brother-in-law, Adeline (Paul) Vandemore.
