Funeral services for Charles "Chuck" Hoskins, 85, of East Moline, formerly of Rock Island, will be 11:00AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday and 10:00AM until service time Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Hoskins died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at his home while walking his faithful canine companion, Frankie. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Chuck was born November 6, 1925 in Glasgow, IA, the son of Charles and Corine Lanum Hoskins. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Lillian Rosa-Gastaldo May 1, 1948 in Rock Island, IL. He later married Delores "Toody" (Hearn) Ballard January 28, 1977 in East Moline. He had owned and operated Chucks Auto Service, Rock Island, retiring in 1987. He had been an avid Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeye, and NASCAR fan. Survivors include his wife, Toody Hoskins of East Moline; daughters, Kristine (Steve) Novak, Rock Island, Shelley Proudfit, Bettendorf, IA; stepdaughters, Pam Hanssen, Davenport, IA, Jewell (Jerry) Joyce, Wilmington, DE, Susan (Dennis) Hill, Davenport; grandchildren, Todd (Lisa) Shurtz, Eric (Anne) Shurtz, Michelle (Sara) Hodge, Meagan (Alan) Sweet, Jessica (Mike) Eager, and Jack Hill; and his special little buddy, Frankie his dog.
