CHARLES THEODORE KNUDSEN III- (Charles) Ted Knudsen, 84, died July 22, 2021, at home surrounded by loving family and friends. On October 25, 1936, he was born in Aurora, IL, to Elmer and Juanita (Kerr) Knudsen.

Ted graduated from Rock Island High School, class of 1954. He attended Missouri College for one year and married his high school sweetheart, Judith Boetje, on September 8, 1957, before serving with the US Navy as a naval photographer for the V22 Flight squadron in Hawaii, Alaska, and Turkey from 1956-60.

Ted received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Western Illinois University. He enjoyed a long career in public education, serving in various roles as a coach, teacher, business administrator, vice-principal, principal, and superintendent. He concluded his career in his preferred role, teaching, for the Illinois' correctional system. In his retirement years he thoroughly enjoyed driving for the Greater Quad cities Auto Auction.

Survivors include wife, Judith; daughters, Connie (Gary) Hartzler, Jana Haskins, and Kim (James) Crinklaw; beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Tim; sister-in-law, Judy "2" Knudsen; and brother-in-law, Herb Krause.

Ted was preceded by his parents, Elmer and Juanita; son, Charles "Chuck" Knudsen; sisters, Sally Krause and Diane Lundeen; brothers Robert, Dennis, Len, and Jack Knudsen; and son-in-law, Tim Haskins.

Memorial services will be 10:30am Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in East Moline, IL, in Ted's honor. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be provided by the East Moline American Legion Post 227.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family for a Memory Tree.
