Graveside services for Charles De Koster, 86, of East Moline, IL, will be 9:00 AM Friday at The National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Anyone wishing to attend must be at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, by 8:30 AM. Visitation will be 5-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. De Koster died Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Rosewood Health Care Center, Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the All Animal Humane Society 5111 78th Avenue Milan, IL 61264. Mr. De Koster was born May 2, 1920 in Yorktown Township, Henry County, IL, the son of Emil and Leshia (Greenwood) De Koster. He married Sarah Myatt while stationed at Camp Campell, Kentucky in 1947. She died in August 9, 1972 as a result of a farm accident. In his early years Charles worked as a farm hand, enlisting in the Army on December 8, 1941. After working at Farmall from 1945-1946 he re-enlisted. He worked for numerous units within the Army, retiring after some 20 years as a SFC. He then returned to Farmall in Rock Island, where he retired in 1980. He was a member of the UAW Local 1309 and VFW Post 5363 Morley, MO. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Jim Simmons of Morley, MO, Christina and Dean Fait of Moline, IL; granddaughter, Cristy Simmons; sisters, Marie Flinn, Hazel Ver Heecke, and Florence De Koster all of East Moline, IL.
