Charles L. “Chuck” De La Rosa, 72, of East Moline, IL, passed away Sunday October 4, 2026, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 9th, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Entombment will be at the Mausoleum at St. Mary Cemetery, East Moline. A Rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter.
Charles was born June 4, 1954, in Moline, Illinois, to Librado and Mary (Moreno) De La Rosa. He graduated from United Township High School, where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in wrestling and football. Following high school, he also played semi-pro football for the Quad City Mohawks. He married Koleen M. Kelly on June 12, 1996, in Rock Island, IL.
Chuck worked at the John Deere Foundry, and later at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He retired following 34 years of service. During plant shutdowns at Deere Harvester, he would work at Quad City Die Cast and Quad City Downs. He was a proud member of UAW, Local 865, East Moline.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Silvis and at St. Mary Catholic Church, Moline. Chuck will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He enjoyed coaching the Moline Junior Maroons and Milan Aces softball. He loved his Indian motorcycle, and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and Indian Fever. Chuck always enjoyed celebrating his birthday with family and friends and the annual fall family reunion.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Koleen, of East Moline; children, Andrea De La Rosa (Jason Woods), Minneapolis, MN, Anthony (Sandra) De La Rosa, Bettendorf, and Lindsey (Joe) Gonzales, Moline; stepsons, Daneil (Susie) Powell, Beech Grove, IN, and Derrick (Tracey) Powell, Greenwood, IN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Williams, Moline; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Librado and Mary; brothers, Joseph “Pepe”, Manuel, and Leo De La Rosa; and sisters, Mary Teresa Tribbett, Esther Pizano and Lucy De La Rosa.
Chuck’s family wishes to express a special Thank You to the nurses and staff of UnityPoint Hospice for being so kind and caring to our father especially our bath aide.
