Charles J. McCormick 89, of Colona, IL, died Monday, March 21, 2016 at Genesis Medical Center Silvis, IL. Graveside services are 10:00AM Friday, March 25, 2016 at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL, where the Colona American Legion will conduct military honors. Memorials may be made to the Twin Rivers Little League, Colona. Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, is assisting the family. Charles McCormick was born April 12, 1926 in Astoria, IL, the son of Ralph and Fern Derry McCormick. He served in the US Army during World War II. He married Dorothy L. Johnson, August 10, 1949, in Rock Island, IL. She died in 2007. Charles retired in 1985, after 49 years at the Rock Island Arsenal. Mac was a coach for the Dodger Dad's Club Baseball Team for 16 years He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, small engine repairs, and woodworking. He is survived by his daughters and (spouses); Nancy Lugwig, Marietta, IL, Cindy (Mick) Painter, Colona, and Margaret Gardner (Pete Jarvis) LeClaire, IA.; son Richard (Frances) McCormick of Barstow, IL;10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great great children; sisters, Virginia McCombs, Astoria, Shirley Dicroce, Denver, CO., Josephine James, Macomb, IL; and a brother Dorvan McCormick, Astoria.
