Obituary

Funeral services for Charles Edward "Chuck" Seaman, 75, of Colona, IL, will be 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona, IL. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be 9:00AM Monday at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Anyone wishing to attend the committal service must be at the Van Hoe Funeral Home by 8:30 AM Monday. Mr. Seaman died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. Chuck was born October 4, 1932 in Davenport, IA, the son of Charles Henry and Margaret Cecelia (Lammers) Seaman. He married Penny Collatos September 7, 1957 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. He had served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He had been Station Manager for the former Ozark Airlines and TWA at the Quad City Airport for 42 years, retiring in 1996. Chuck had been very active in the community. He had been mayor of the Village of Colona for 24 years, City Councilman for 12 years, Colona Township Supervisor, Tri State Traffic Club President, member of the Bi State Planning Commission Board, Illini Hospital Foundation Board, Henry County Board, Colona American Legion, and charter member of the Colona Lions Club. He had volunteered at the John Deere Classic for 35 years. Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Penny Seaman; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Bruce Austin of Clinton, IA; sons and daughter-in-law, Bill Seaman of Colona, George and Cynthia Seaman of Colona; grandchildren (spouse), William Seaman II, Nicholas Seaman, Charles Michael Seaman, Michael Austin, and Kelley (Nate) Determan; great grandchildren, Zane, Chloe, Allyssa, and Cole; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Ron Glaudel of Paso Robles, CA, Patricia and Vern Strong of Mauretta, CA; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Seaman of Charlotte, NC; and all his lifelong neighborhood friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Nicholas Seaman; brother, Joe Seaman. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com. Gods speed Cheerful!
