Charles J. Walker, 81, of Hampton, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 At Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. Private family committal services will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. His body will be cremated. Charles was born July 19, 1927 in Bellville, Ohio, the son of Russell and Beatrice (Cairns) Walker. He married Geraldine Peterson on May 29, 1952 in Mansfield, Ohio. She died February 6, 2007. He had been a truck driver at various trucking companies and had also worked as a security guard. He was a volunteer fireman for the city of Hampton. Survivors include his son James, granddaughters: Heather (William) Alexander of Moline and Jennifer Fisher of East Moline, great grandchildren Everett, Sarah, Jacob, Brennen, Emily, Alyssa and Billy, brothers; Rodney, Ronald, and William "Bill" and sisters Norma Jean Wolfgang, Mary Alice Snavely, Dana Robinson, Ida Mae Ocheltree and Eleeta Maurine Walters. He is preceded in death by his wife and a sister Lois Ann Goddis.
