Charmain D. "Char" Murphy, 85, of East Moline, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, 1500 6th Street, East Moline. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.

Charmain was born December 30, 1937, in Moline, a daughter of Donald and Winfred (Jensen) Murphy. She earned her GED and worked several years as an insurance adjuster before retiring in 1998. Charmain enjoyed crocheting and going to her card club. In her earlier years, she liked to gamble, play bingo, and go fishing and camping.

Survivors include her son, David Collis, East Moline; granddaughters, Becky Degryse and Christine Collis; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Karen (Bob) Bowling, Gary (Sue) Murphy, Bill Murphy, and Denise Coakley; and sister-in-law, Mary Murphy.

Charmain was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Collis; and siblings, Terry Murphy, LaMayne Murphy, Don Murphy, and Janice Neels; and great-granddaughter, Ariel South.
