Cheryl Rosemarie Kespohl, 65, of East Moline, IL, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at her residence.

She was born on September 8, 1960, in Peoria, Illinois and adopted by her mother, Elsie Lorraine Carlson and her father, Robert Eugene Carlson. In 1980, she married Robert Ray Griffiths, and they shared two daughters together, Amanda Carlson and Jessica McGartland. After separating in 1985, she met Brian Robinson and they shared a son, Ryan James Robinson. She later married Barry Allen Kespohl in 2002, and they separated in 2017. In the final chapter of her life, her heart belonged to Brian Richard Vandewalle, and her great grandbabies, whom she adored. They were her pride and joy.

Cheryl enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest and was such a free spirit. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Amanda Carlson (Dave Lesley) and Jessica McGartland (Shawn Putnam); her brother, Tim (Shannon) Carlson; nephews, Eric, Andrew (Carlson) and Noah Moneymaker; seven grandchildren, Arianna, Aleecia, Kaleb, Chelsie (Carlson-Padilla), Mersadies (Smith), Jacob, and Gabriella (Gould); 11 great-grandchidren, Lilianna, Aniyah, Elianna, Alydia, Zanyla, Kaycen, Kennedy, Kassidy, baby boy, Ayla and Clara; and very special friends, Tammy, Laura, Kathy, Paulie and Sandy.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her loving parents; her son, Ryan; and her late husband, Robert.

Her family plans to host a Celebration of Cheryl’s Life at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family in care of her daughter, Amanda Carlson.
