Graveside services for Chester W. Box, 80, of Seymour, MO, are 2PM Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Liberty Cemetery, Seymour, with military honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, and 11-12:30PM Saturday at Forsyth-Whelchel Funeral Home, Forsyth. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Chester died Monday, June 15, 2009 at his home in Hampton with his family at his side. Chester was born October 20, 1928 in Seymour, the son of Jason and Bessie (Blazer) Box. He served in the Korean War and had received many honors. He had worked as a grinder and retired in maintenance from John Deere Foundry, Moline, IL. Chester was a loving father of 3 children, 3 grandchildren and his great grandson. He enjoyed playing pool, listening to Blue Grass music, shining his cars, woodworking and watching stockcar races and NASCAR. He was a kind man who loved a new joke, as long as it wasn't played on him. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Terry Brown of Hampton, IL and Waynette "Cora" Courage, Wyoming, brother, Robert Box, Ava, MO, grandchildren, Daniel (Jennifer) Erickson, East Moline, Shane Erickson, Hampton, and Cody Brown of Hampton, and his great grandson; Dakota Johnson, East Moline and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Anna, daughter Barbara, his parents and brothers Truel, Claude, Cleason and Ernest. Debbie wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Pathway Hospice for their helping her with her father.
