Funeral services for Chris "Spey" VanSpeybroeck, 21, of Colona, IL, will be 10:00AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 2:00-8:00PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 1:00PM. Chris passed from this earth on Monday, November 9th, 2009, due to complication of Bacterial Meningitis. He had been living in Cedar Rapids, IA, attending Kirkwood Community College pursuing his Associates Degree in Fire Science. Chris entered the world on March 21st, 1988 in Norfolk, VA, third son to parents Dave and Mary O'Mary VanSpeybroeck. Booch, as he was christened by his father, grew up the youngest of three boys and spent the majority of his life here in the Quad Cities. His expansive network of friends began during his enrollment at St. Mary's grade school, which he attended starting in Pre-3 class through 8th grade. He attended Alleman High School, and graduated in 2006. Chris shared a family passion for sports, excelling in football which he participated in since his early youth. He was proud to be a member of Alleman's State Championship Runner Up team, the culmination of 8 years of friendship with his teammates. Chris's affability, easy laugh, and readiness to smile are a few of the lasting characteristics of a soul too bright be captured in a paragraph. He is survived by his parents Dave and Mary VanSpeybroeck, brothers Justin and Eric, many close relatives, and friends innumerable. Donations in his honor can be made to the Alleman Booster Club.
