Funeral services for Chrystal M. Thompson, 84, of East Moline, formerly of Colona, IL, will be 10:00 AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be 1:00 PM Monday in Wapello Cemetery, Wapello, IA. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Thompson died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for Leukemia Research. Chrystal Wykert was born May 25, 1923 in Oakville, IA, the daughter of George and Mary (Whittaker) Wykert. She married Robert Thompson December 8, 1945 in East Moline, IL. The most important part of her life was her family. While her children were in school, she had been very active in PTA. She and her husband are charter members of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Pleasant Valley, IA, where she had been an active member for most of her life. She was a very talented seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors include: her husband of 62 years, Robert Thompson of East Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and John Haley of Chicago, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Melinda Thompson of Moline, IL, Daniel and Lori Thompson of Sycamore, IL; 9 grandchildren; sister, Vera Ryner of Burlington, IA.
