Funeral services for Clara Louise Downing, 81, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Mrs. Downing died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to River Bend Food Pantry or to a favorite charity. Clara Gryp was born December 8, 1929 in Carbon Cliff, IL, the daughter of Edmond and Augusta Van Damme Gryp. She married LaVerne Downing October 17, 1964. He died November 29 1964. She had worked for Modern Woodmen, Rock Island, IL, Agnew Drug, East Moline and Farlow Electric, East Moline. When her mothers health started to decline she quit work at Farlow and took care of her mother until her death at 99 years of age. Survivors include sisters-in-law, Virginia Gryp of St. Petersburg, FL, Dorothy Gryp of Moline, Betty Gryp of East Moline; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Germaine Gryp, Elizabeth Gryp, Jane Meyers, Mary Hart, Rose Van Daele; brothers, Charles Gryp, Joseph Gryp, Earl Gryp, Rene Gryp.
